Mental Health & Wellbeing
At Manor Primary School our aim is to promote inclusion and good mental health and wellbeing by ensuring children are emotionally ready to learn and be the best that they can be. For most children being confident and resilient is developed through quality first provision which includes
Some children may experience times when they are vulnerable and are displaying behaviours that need additional emotional support. Early intervention is delivered and we have several types of provision and resources to do this.
The Sensory Room
‘Provides a calm start to the day’
‘Provides a calm place when anxious’
This is also used as the speech and language room
‘Meet Mrs. Sparks’
As the headteacher, I work tirelessly to ensure the emotional needs of our children are met through the provision provided at Manor. Where we cannot meet the needs of children, I work closely with other agencies such as CAMHs, Leapfrog, the school nurse, social care and Paediatricians, the LA’s Vulnerable Children’s Inspector etc to enable all children to be the best that they can be.
When children leave our school they are….
Actively kind and compassionate
Able to explain and manage their feelings and emotions
Fully prepared to learn on a daily basis
And are the best that they can be
Mrs Sparks works closely with our dedicated worker to support children and their mental health.
Additional support comes in the form of group work, individual work as wells as supporting parents.
The MHST worker visits school to support the children.
Referrals can be made to CAMHS where additional support is needed.
