Hello Foundation 1 Children and Parents. Hope you are all still keeping well and happy! I have prepared some more Maths and Phonics work activities for you to do together, so I hope you will have fun doing them! I would love to hear how you get on with them!
Maths work is about matching numeral and quantity correctly. There are also alternative maths activities and ideas that you might want to look at, based around the book “Superworm” (https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/).
The main purpose of the Phonics work is to talk about the different sounds that we can make with our voices.
As usual, use whatever resources you have at your disposal to complete the activities. Some children will find the activities easy and others more difficult. So go with your child and extend and support where necessary. The most important thing is that your child is having fun! Keep talking to them and develop and extend conversations where you can. Encourage them to be curious about everything and to ask questions about the world around them. Enjoy singing rhymes and songs and book sharing every day! Encourage them to show interest in numerals in the environment (e.g. car registrations, numbers on doors and bins). Also practise recognising, tracing over, copying or writing name independently (depending at what stage your child is at) each day.
Please get in touch by the class email address above if you have any queries, comments or photos of activities you would like to share. I would love to see what you are all up to!
Take special care
