09:30-09:40 - Sound of the Week - New Sound Launch!
This week's new sound is 'c'. The action for this sound is 'playing castanets with both hands'. Visit these You Tube Clips to introduce the sound and enjoy exploring it:

09:40-09:50 - Writing Our Sound Of The Week.
It's time to try and make our new sound of the week 'c'. You can be as creative as you like, make the letter 'c' by writing it, drawing it, painting it, playdough it, make it using construction items, create it in sand, take a paintbrush and some water and go and mark it on the garden fence outside!!!
Send me a picture on Dojo to let me know how you got on.
09:50-10:00 - Finding Our Sound Of The Week.
Now lets have a 'scavenger hunt'! Go round your house with your child and challenge them to find any and all objects they can which have the initial sound 'c'. If you want to motivate your child give them a target such as a specific number of items to find, or a time limit in which to find the items!
Send me a video to let me know how they got on.
09:30-09:40 - Sound & Common Exception Word Revision
Visit the PowerPoint below for the Week 21 lessons including the grammar chant and sound review.
If you cannot download the PowerPoint on your device then please visit the following YouTube clips to revise the sounds there;
Phase 2 sounds - https://youtu.be/DIpcahxNSU4
Phase 3 sounds - https://youtu.be/vU2vWZKS7rY
'Tricky' words - https://youtu.be/TvMyssfAUx0
Send me a text response to outline any sounds or words your child struggled with.
09:40-10:50 - Phonics Phase 2 - Part 1 - New Sound - 'igh'
Introduce the trigraph sound 'igh' (the action for 'igh' is placing your hand 'high' in the air!) using the PowerPoint for the website you have downloaded.
If you do not have access to the PowerPoint then please visit the following YouTube clip:
Now practice writing 'igh' remember we form the letters by:
i - "down the body and dot the head"
g - "round the girls face, down her long hair and give her a curl"
h - "from his head to his hooves and over his back"
Challenge your child to independently write the following words:
"bright, might, fight, light"
Upload a photo of their work to dojo.
09:50-10:00 - Phonics Phase 2 - Part 2- Writing Captions & Sentences
Now that your child has learnt the 'igh' digraph challenge them to independently write the following captions (Remember finger spaces between words, or if your child is left handed then remind them to leave a gap):
"a big sigh"
"put on the light"
And the sentence:
"I am lost in the dark night."
(Remember a sentence must include a capital letter and a full stop)
Take a picture of your child's work and up load to dojo it for me to see.
10:00-10:10 - Maths Warm Up!
Begin by doing a counting warm up with your child.
Challenge them to:
Count forwards to 0-10
Backwards from 10-0
Recognise a written numeral from 0-5
Recognise a square, circle, rectangle and triangle.
Count items placed in front of them 0-5, can they add one more and see how much they have now. What happens if they have one less?
Visit the following YouTube clip and learn the money song:
https://youtu.be/dFzAU3u06Ps
Upload a picture to dojo for me to see their work.
10:10-10:30 - Main Activity
Today we're continuing our explorations into understanding the 'fiveness of 5'!
We've been doing this for a while so use the following YouTube clip to engage your child:
Now lets play a 'feely bag' game (you can use a bag, a pillow case even just an envelop!)
Place numbers 0-5 in the bag, place the bag in the middle of your learning space, put on some music and let your child dance round the bag and when the music stops they get to pick a number from the bag.
Challenge your child to read the numeral then represent it in anyway they like. It could be objects, pictures, actions or any of the ideas you got from the video clip. Make sure you celebrate when your child picks out number '5'!
Send me a photo on Dojo to let me know how you got on.
10:00-10:10 - Maths Warm Up!
Begin by doing a counting warm up with your child. I've attached our Math's Chant PowerPoint to help! Otherwise;
Challenge them to:
Count forwards to 0-15
Backwards from 15-0
Saying 1 more or 1 less from any number 0-15
Recognise a written numeral from 0-15
Recognise a square, circle, rectangle and triangle.
Watch the following clip for a ‘money’ song https://youtu.be/dFzAU3u06Ps
Play missing number games or even missing shape games in a sequence.
Play 'scavenger hunt' As your child to go and get items from 0-15
Upload a message to dojo to let me know how you got on.
10:10-10:30 - Main Activity
We're going to begin our learning of size, weight, capacity and measurement. This week we will explore size (length and height).
Begin by introducing your child to the maths vocabulary below explaining that we will need to use these when taking about an objects length and height:
Length, width, height, depth, narrow, deep, shallow, thick, think, longer/shorter, longest/shortest.
From this point onwards agree with your child to ban the words 'big' and 'small' as these are not mathematical descriptions of an object.
Now go round your house finding objects you can compare in size. Look for different sets of only 2 objects to make an observation statement about. Encourage your child to use the vocabulary you have just learnt e.g. "I am taller than my little brother", "The table is wider than the chair", "Your sock is longer than my sock."
Send me a Dojo video of your child making observation statements comparing size.
10:45-11:15 - Main Activity
Today we are going to launch our new topic 'Superheroes Assemble!".
Begin by asking your child all they know and understand about Superheroes writing down their ideas about characters, superpowers, who the Superheroes battle with and what the role of a Superhero is.
Next visit the following YouTube clip and watch the story of "Ten Rules of Being a Superhero' by Deb Pilutti:
Finally, using what your child has just learnt from the story, challenge your child to create their own Superhero! Begin by asking your child to draw a picture of their Superhero and then, F1 children talk about and F2 children write about, their Superheroes' powers and qualities.
Upload a picture to Dojo so I can see your child's creation and assess their work.
11:15-11:30 - This Week's Book is "Tim's Din"
I have attached a picture of this weeks' text
"Tim's Din"
Begin by talking about the pictures. Ask them questions such as "What can you see, where are they, what are they doing, who is there and why? Once you have talked about the 'picture clues' challenge your child to read the words. Children should be able to identify, segment and blend the words with minimal support.
11:30-12:00 - Main Activity
On Friday's Zoom Teaching Session I set all the children a challenge to use their EAD sessions to craft an amazing superhero costume! I also banned all parents from buying anything new for this challenge!!! So this week you will craft, junk model, paint, glue and stick your own wonderful creation ready to wear on Friday's next Zoom meet. I will even do the same, so we really are in it together! Parents and careers please don't fee overwhelmed, just think of three things;
First: A costume needs a base layer, think superhero colours, tops and bottoms.
Second: Accessories! Cuffs, masks, and belts.
Third: Capes/boots etc. Perhaps an old adult sized top could be made into something new and special!!
If your worried, here's some pictures to inspire you, and remember keep asking your child how things look and feel!
Upload picture of your work onto Dojo as the costume develops!
12:00-12:30
